Children with fears of dogs
"For children that are fearful of dogs, it is very important that parents respect this fear and take small steps at their child's pace. Children that are afraid tend to do all the actions and behaviors that are unsettling to dogs. If a child is fearful then there is no need for them to touch any unfamiliar dog. Gradual steps can be taken to help a child become more confident and comfortable with dogs. Start with a familiar dog. It must be one that you trust and feel safe with. Teaching children about dog language helps them to understand more about what dogs do and why. Carin enjoys helping children feel comfortable with her. She has a way with the kids that makes them feel safe. Pressuring children to pet a dog when they are fearful sets both child and dog up for a potentially dangerous outcome."
